All terms expire on December 31 of the year of expiration (5 year term).

Responsibilities

The purpose of the Planning and Zoning Commission is:

• To prevent and lessen the congestion in streets and highways to secure safety from fire, flood, panic and other dangers
• To protect public health and general welfare
• To provide adequate light and air
• To prevent overcrowding of land
• To avoid undue concentration of population; to facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewage, schools, parks and other public requirements
• To conserve the value of buildings and encourage the most appropriate use of land throughout the county in accordance with the comprehensive zoning ordinance

The Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for making recommendations on all matters relative to the ordinance by which it affects and guides the entire region to unified development of the region.
