Fees

Building permits are required for all construction in the county unless it is directly related to a farming operation. Farms are defined as 40 acres or more with the typical farming practices. If there is a question as to whether a permit is required please call the Health and Zoning Office at 563-245-2451.

  • Building Permits
    • Residence of any type (includes house or cabin): $150
    • All other Buildings: $50
  • Sign Permits: $50
  • Permit fees are 3 times the building or sign permit fee for projects started before a permit is issued.
  • Well Permits: $100
    • $75 (county) + $25 (state)
  • Septic System Permits: $75
  • Zoning Petitions
    • Regular Meeting: $150
    • Special Meeting: $200
  • Board of Adjustments
    • Regular Meeting: $100
    • Special Meeting: $200
    • Commercial Towers: $250
    • Wind Towers
      • Private: $100
      • Commercial: $250
  • Preliminary Plat: $150 plus $10 per lot
  • Major Subdivision Final Plat
    • 1-4 Lots: $150
    • 5-20 Lots: $200
    • Over 20 Lots: $225
  • Minor Subdivision Plat: $50 plus $10 per lot
  • Re-plat, Re-subdivision, Road Changes
    • 1-4 lots: $50
    • 5 lots or more: $100
  • Road or Subdivision Name Changes: $50
