On October 4, 2017, Clayton County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 128 near Granite Ave for a traffic violation. During the stop, Deputies came into contact with 27 year old Brianna Green of Elkader. During the stop, deputies located a white powdery substance along with drug paraphernalia. The substance was sent to the DCI crime lab for analysis. On January 10th, Deputy received a report from the DCI crime lab confirming the substance to be methamphetamine. Deputies charged Green with Possession of a controlled substance- methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On December 31, 2017 at 2:57pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Highway 13 near Empire Rd. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Marissa Duart of Strawberry Point was operating a 2013 Dodge Charger when she lost control and struck a cable guardrail causing $9,000 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On December 31, 2017 at 7:56pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Mississippi Road near Frenchtown. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Todd Elfstrom of Marquette was operating a 2017 Toyota Sienna Van when he lost control, entered the ditch and went down into a ravine causing $10,000 damage. No injuries were reported. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Guttenberg Police Department, Guttenberg Fire Department and Guttenberg Ambulance Service.

 

On January 3, 2018 at 6:24am, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Mississippi Road near Frenchtown. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Harvey Kansaku of Prairie Du Chien was operating a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 when he lost control, entered the ditch and struck a tree causing $2,500 damage. No injuries were reported.

On January 3, 2018 at 3:45pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Highway 128 in Clayton Center. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Corey Broxen of Guttenberg was operating a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu when he lost control, and went into the ditch causing $8,000 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On January 5, 2018, Clayton County Deputies charged 40 year old Jill Schroeder of Prairie Du Chien with Forgery (Class “D” Felony) and Theft -2nd Degree. (Class “D” Felony) stemming from a month long investigation where Schroeder stole multiple checks from the victim and forged the checks for a total of $1,387. Deputies were able to identify Schroeder through video surveillance. Schroeder is currently being held in the Allamakee County Jail on unrelated charges.

 

On January 8, 2018 at 8:40pm, Clayton County Deputies came upon a vehicle broke down on the Great River Road near Lariat Road. Upon further investigation, Deputies learned that 30 year old Nicholas Meyer of Elkader was operating a Chevrolet Suburban with a revoked driver’s license. Deputies arrested Meyer for driving while revoked. Meyer was transported to the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in Magistrate Court.


On January 9, 2018, Clayton County Deputies arrested 29 year old Justin Reuter of Wauzeka on a Clayton County Warrant for Probation Violation. Reuter was transported to the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in Court.


On January 11, 2018 at 10:33am, Clayton County Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident on Highway 128 near Granite Ave. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Elizabeth Munz of Elkader was operating a 2003 Ford Escape Westbound on Highway 128 when she slowed to turn left into a private driveway when she was rear-ended by a 2001 Saturn operated by Melvin Walleser of Farmersburg. Both units sustained approximately $1,500 damage. No injuries were reported. Walleser was cited for failure to yield.

On January 12, 2018 at 7:19am, Clayton County Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 18 and Echo Ave. Upon further investigation it was determined that Danny Lancaster of Plattville, WI was operating a 2013 Mack Semi when he entered Highway 18 from Echo Ave. Lancaster’s vehicle was struck by an Eastbound 2013 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Michael Kircchhoff of Sumner. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles sustained approximately $7,500 damage. Lancaster was cited for Fail to yield right of way. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Monona Fire Department, Monona Ambulance and the Iowa State Patrol.

 

On January 12, 2018 at 5:45pm, Clayton County Deputies were dispatched to a car vs deer accident on the Great River Road near Island View Drive. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Ronald Mairet of Guttenberg was operating a 2015 Ford F150 when he struck a deer causing $2,500 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On January 13, 2018 at 1:06pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs deer accident on the Great River Road near Mississippi Road. Upon further investigation it was determined that Jessica Felske of Garnavillo was operating a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox when she struck a deer causing $3,000 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On January 14, 2018 at 9:43pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Colesburg Road near Garber. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Trent Ingles of Strawberry Point was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt when he lost control due to snow covered roadways. Ingles’ vehicle entered the ditch and struck an embankment causing $1,500 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On January 15, 2018, 34 year old Clinton Jones of McGregor turned himself into the Clayton County Jail on a Warrant for Failure to Appear. Jones posted the $500 cash bond.

 

On January 17, 2018, Clayton County Deputies arrested 31 year old Amanda Koopman of Dyersville on a Clayton County Warrant for Theft-5th Degree stemming from an investigation where Koopman allegedly wrote checks out of a closed account to several businesses in Clayton and surrounding counties. Koopman was transported to the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in Court. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
