On December 23, 2017 at 10:34am, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Millville Road. When Deputies arrived on scene, the vehicle was no longer at the scene. Deputies located evidence and were able to determine the owner of the vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and determined that Cody Simon of Colesburg was operating a 2006 Dodge Ram the night before when he swerved to miss a deer. His vehicle struck a county road sign and entered the ditch causing $1,500 damage. Simon was cited for failure to maintain control and possession of alcohol under the legal age.

 

On December 24, 2017 at 3:28pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on the Great River Road near Lariat Road. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Kendall Knospe of Saint Olaf was operating a 2016 Chevrolet 2500 when he lost control on snow covered roads. Knospe’s vehicle entered the ditch causing $4,000 damage. No injuries were reported. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol.

 

On December 27, 2017 at 2:13pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Highway 13 near Highway 56. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Kristopher Sutter of Manchester was operating a 2016 Kia Forte when he lost control and struck a bridge rail causing $2,000 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On December 29, 2017 at 3:36pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Highway 128 in Clayton Center. Upon further investigation it was determined that Mark Behrend of Garnavillo was operating a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado when he lost control due to road conditions. His vehicle entered the ditch causing $3,000 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On December 31, 2017 at 1:15pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Spook Cave Road. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Kurt Schaller od McGregor was operating a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze when he lost control due to road conditions. Schaller’s vehicle entered the ditch and struck a steel beam in the ditch causing $2,500 damage. No injuries were reported.

On January 2, 2018 at 7:19am, Clayton County Deputies were dispatched to a one vehicle accident on Garber Road near Leaf Road. Upon further investigation it was determined that Mary Infeld of Oelwein was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier when she lost control. Her vehicle entered the ditch striking a field driveway causing $10,000 damage. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Guttenberg Fire Department and Guttenberg Ambulance Service.

 

On January 4, 2018 at 5:30pm, Clayton County Deputies were dispatched to a car vs deer accident on Highway 13 near Granite Ave. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Sandra Coobs of Elkader was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu when she struck two deer causing $2,500 damage. No injuries were reported
