On March 4, 2017 at 2:57 PM, Clayton County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Kittyhawk Ave near McGregor for an equipment violation. Deputies came into contact with 21 year old Katie Hoilien of Garnavillo. Deputies detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Deputies located marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Hoilien was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was transported to the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in magistrate court.

On March 7, 2017, 20 year old Tyler Koehler of Guttenberg turned himself into the Clayton County Jail on a Clayton County Warrant for probation violation. Koehler was held on without bond.

On March 8, 2017, Clayton County Deputies took custody of 40 year old Jason Herzog from Delaware County Authorities for a Clayton County Warrant for Parole Violation and theft 3rd. Herzog was transported to the Clayton County Jail where he is being held without bond.

On March 8, 2017 at 2:11 PM, Clayton County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the Great River Road in Guttenberg. Deputies came into contact with 24 year old Travis Weller of Guttenberg. Upon further investigation, Weller was arrest for driving while revoked. Weller was transported to the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in Magistrate Court.

On March 12, 2017 at 6:31 AM, Clayton County Deputies were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle parked in the roadway at the intersection of Great River Road and Lariat Road. Deputies came into contact with 20 year old Gage Vierkant of Hazel Green, WI. Deputies observed signs of impairment coming from Vierkant. Upon further investigation, Vierkant was arrested for driving while license revoked, operating while intoxicated, possession of alcohol under age 21, and parking on a traveled portion of a roadway. Vierkant was transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was held pending an appearance in magistrate court.

On March 12, 2017 at 6:01 PM, Clayton County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 18 near Monona for a traffic violation. Deputies came into contact with 18 year old Jermaine Jones of Postville. Upon further investigation, Deputies located marijuana in the vehicle. Jones was arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail where further testing was completed. Deputies then charged Jones with Operating while intoxicated-drugged. Jones was held in the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in Magistrate Court.

On March 14, 2017 Clayton County Deputies took custody of 47 year old Robert Wahner of Cedar Falls from Black Hawk County Authorities for a Clayton County Warrant for Domestic Abuse Assault. Wahner was transported to the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in Magistrate Court.

On March 15, 2017 Clayton County Deputies took custody of 34 year old Andrew Quinn of Decorah from Winneshiek County Authorities after he was arrested for failure to serve jail sentence. Quinn was transported to the Clayton County Jail to serve a 70 day jail sentence.

On March 15, 2017 at 2:11 PM, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Domino Road near 290th Street. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Rodney Mohning of Volga was operating a 1996 Oldsmobile when he lost control and entered the ditch causing $1,500 damage. Mohning was transported to the Central Community Hospital by Central Ambulance for non-life threatening injuries. Mohning was cited for failure to maintain control. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa DNR, Volga Fire and First Responders, and the Central Ambulance.

On March 15, 2017 at 11:47 PM, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on 270th Street near Elkader. Upon arrival, Deputies learned that the driver and occupants had left the scene. Upon further investigation, Deputies learned that 21 year old Jager Beck of Manchester was operating a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier when he failed to negotiate a curve, entered the ditch and overturned causing $2,000 damage. A passenger was transported to the Central Hospital by Central Ambulance for non-life threatening injuries. Beck was arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with Driving While Suspended, Failure to Maintain Control, Failure to wear seat belts, and no insurance. Beck was held pending an appearance in magistrate court.

On March 16, 2017 at 2:48 PM, Clayton County Deputies observed suspicious activity on a vehicle near Eagle Drive in McGregor. Deputies made contact with the driver, 32 year old Tiffany Scarff of Wadena. Upon further investigation, Deputies arrested Scarff for Driving While Barred. Scarff was transported to the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in Magistrate Court.

On March 18, 2017 at 12:20 AM, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Highway 52 about 1 mile South of Guttenberg. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Jamie Blume of Guttenberg was operating a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse when she came upon a rock slide. Blume struck a large boulder causing $5,000 damage. No injuries were reported. The Guttenberg Police Department and the Iowa Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.

On March 18, 2017 at 7:08 PM, Clayton County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 76 North of Marquette for a traffic violation. Deputies came into contact with 54 year old Gregory Winter of Waukon. Upon further investigation, Winter was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated. Winter was transported to the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in Magistrate Court.

On March 19, 2017 at 6:54 PM, Clayton County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Golden Ave near Glider Road. Deputies came into contact with 28 year old Tommy Fields of Monona. Upon further investigation, Fields was arrested for driving while suspended. Fields was transported to the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in Magistrate Court.
