On March 23, 2017, Clayton County Deputies arrested 18 year old Michael Jones Jr. of Postville on a Clayton County Warrant for Probation Violation. Jones was transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was held without bond.
On March 23, 2017 at 3:35pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident on Highway 52 South of Guttenberg. Upon further investigation it was determined that Lee Earl of Guttenberg was operating a 2006 Ford F250 South on Highway 52. Earl was stopped waiting for traffic to turn left when he was struck from behind by a 2004 Chevrolet four door operated by Dylan Gladwin of Guttenberg. Earl’s vehicle sustained $15,000 damage, while Gladwin’s vehicle sustained $5,000 damage. Gladwin was cited for failure to maintain control. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Guttenberg Police Department, Guttenberg Ambulance and Guttenberg Fire Department.
On March 24, 2017 at 2:25pm, Clayton County Deputies along with the Guttenberg Police Department responded to a two vehicle accident on Highway 52 and Acre Street. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Cheryl Urbalejo of Guttenberg was operating a 2014 Ford Focus Northbound on Highway 52. Urbalejo was stopped waiting to turn left onto Acre Street when she was struck by a 2009 Nissian Ultima operated by Natalie Spiker of Guttenberg. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage. Spiker was cited for failure to maintain control. The Sheriff’s Office and Guttenberg Police were assisted by the Guttenberg Ambulance and Guttenberg Fire Department.
On March 25, 2017 at 10:49am, Clayton County Deputies responded to Galaxy Road at Motor Mill for a report of a vandalism. Upon further investigation, Deputies obtained information and evidence where they were able to identify a suspect. On March 29, 2017, Deputies charged 29 year old Joshua Anderson of Elkader with Criminal Mischief 3rd degree, Littering, reckless driving and no insurance. Anderson turned himself in to Clayton County Authorities on this date, where he was held pending an appearance in Magistrate Court.
On March 26, 2017 at 8:10am, Clayton County Deputies received a report of an intoxicated driver in Elkader. Deputies located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Upon making contact with the driver, Deputies observed signs of impairment. Upon further investigation, Deputies arrested 55 year old Lyle Butikofer of Elgin for Operating While Intoxicated-2nd Offense. Butikofer was also charged with 2 counts of driving while suspended, and failure to obey stop sign. Butikofer was transported to the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in Magistrate County. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Elkader Police Department.
On March 31, 2017 at 1:13pm, Clayton County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the Gunder Road near 220th Street. Upon further investigation, it was determined that 50 year old Darrill Hall of Postville was operating a motor vehicle with a barred driver’s license. Hall was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving While Barred, No insurance, Operation without registration and fraudulent use of registration. Hall was transported to the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in Magistrate Court.
On April 2, 2017 at 6:55pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs. deer accident on King Road near 215th Street. Upon further investigation it was determined that Audra Janes of Garnavillo was operating a 2013 Mazda when she struck a deer causing $2,000 damage. No injuries were reported.
On April 6, 2017 at 7:16pm, Clayton County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 52 near 390th Street. Upon further investigation, Deputies located marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. 24 year old Elijah Hammel of Dubuque, 20 year old Amanda Schoonover of Dubuque and 22 year old Angelica Flores of Dubuque were all arrested for possession of a controlled substamce-marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. All three were transported to the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in Magistrate Court. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol.
