On July 8, 2017 at 4:42pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a motorcycle accident on Highway 13 near North High Street. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Thomas Sedlacek of Cedar Rapids was operating a 2004 Moto Guzzi when he lost control. Sedlacek was transported to the Central Community Hospital and was transferred to the University of Iowa Hospital’s via Lifeguard for serious injuries. The accident remains under investigation by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol. Also assisting at the scene was the Central Ambulance and Elkader Fire Department.
On July 9, 2017 at 11:05pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a vehicle in the ditch at the intersection of Lantern Ave and Miner’s Creek Road. Upon further investigation, Deputies arrested 22 year old Curtis Johnson of Holy Cross for Operating While Intoxicated Johnson was transported to the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in Magistrate Court. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Guttenberg Police Department and the Guttenberg Ambulance.
On July 10, 2017 at 10:56pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a motorcycle vs. deer accident in Spook Cave Road. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Alex McNally of McGregor was operating a 1985 Yamaha Motorcycle when he struck a deer causing $2,000 damage. McNally was taken by private vehicle to Crossing River’s Hospital for minor injuries.
On July 11, 2017 at 5:07am, Clayton County Deputies took a report of a no contact order violation at 19745 Keystone Road. Upon arrival Deputies were unable to located the suspect. Deputies made contact with the suspect during the evening of July 11th, and arrested 32 year old Christopher Junk of Monona for violation of a no contact order.
On July 12, 2017 at 6:43am, Clayton County Deputies responded to a suspicious person call at 12517 322nd Street. Deputies learned that the subject had been given a ride to the gas station in Volga. Deputies located the suspect and learned that the suspect had put her vehicle in the ditch on St. Sebald Road. During the investigation, Clayton County K9 Raven was deployed, where the K9 indicated the presence of illegal narcotics. Deputies located marijuana and methamphetamine paraphernalia. Deputies arrested 22 year old Kristy Hall of Decorah. Hall was transported to the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in court.
